With just one week left on the NYS Legislative session calendar, the pace of passing bills has picked up substantially these past few days, as legislators push to ensure priorities, especially local priorities, are moved through their respective houses. Session is scheduled to end June 6. That being said, it is likely that deadline will spill into Friday, June 7, especially if the houses feel they are close to agreement with the Governor on thorny issues such as the wrongful death bill. While the final tally of bills introduced this year is likely to be a record number, many controversial issues were dealt with in the budget this year and ECA's consultants at Park Strategies have consistently heard that the houses will be reluctant to move bills that do not have consensus in both legislative chambers. We will continue to update the membership on any matters impacting the construction industry that may come up as session winds down for the year.
