The Institute for Construction Economics Research (ICERES) is out with new research taking a comprehensive look at registered apprenticeships by combining information from DOL and 42 states from 2015 to 2021, including states that register their own programs that are not reflected in DOL data. The researchers found that workers participating in registered apprenticeships that are jointly administered by employers and unions are more likely to complete the program and tend to have higher wages compared to workers in apprenticeships that don’t have any union participation at all. Eastern Contractors Association jointly administers more than a dozen NYS registered apprentice programs with our Union partners.
