Members have brought two different email scams involving ECA to our attention this week. The first one is offering to sell you a copy of our membership list. This is not us, and it is not affiliated with us. We do not sell your information, nor do we generally share our membership list outside of our paper and online directories. If you receive this email, please mark it as spam and/or trash it. The second scam is a lot more sophisticated and is the more dangerous of the two. The email appears to come from ECA Chairman Tom Carney asking you to take care of an association expense using ACH or Zelle. It also names our Treasurer, Jim Elacqua, in an attempt to make it appear to be more legitimate. This is NOT from us, and it should also be marked as spam and deleted. Thank you to the members who brought these to our attention. Click here for more information on how to recognize and avoid phishing scams from the Federal Trade Commission. The FBI also offers information on cyber threats here.
