BOCES National Signing Day a Success

Eastern Contractors Association was proud to be a part of the Capital District BOCES Career & Technical Education's recent Signing Day, recognizing students who are entering a skilled trades career following their graduation.

ECA President and CEO Todd Helfrich was among the guest speakers congratulating the students on choosing a career in the Trades.

A total of 32 students participated in the Signing Day event, with 12 of them entering the workforce by joining one of our local Construction Trades Unions. Five ECA member firms – AMC Construction & Management Corp, A.O.W. Associates, Inc. LeChase Construction, MLB Construction Services, LLC, and James H. Maloy, Inc. – were also on hand, as several of the students will be joining their companies. The students are looking to become members of Bricklayers Local No. 2, the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, Laborers Local No. 157, and Plumbers Local No. 7.

The BOCES event was part of a nationwide celebration showcasing the impact career and technical education programs have on addressing the U.S. skills gap as the students commit to skilled trades careers, apprenticeships or advanced training. By empowering the next generation of skilled workers, we can help close the skills gap as we highlight the value of paths for young workers that offer great careers, stability, and long-term growth opportunities
