Construction adds 19,000 jobs in Sept.

The construction industry added 19,000 jobs in September, but that paired with a better-than-expected overall U.S. job gain of 263,000 for the month raised fears of a further sharp increase in interest rates. Much of the construction gain was in the nonresidential sector, with 13,100 added jobs. It was also noted that while hourly wages grew at the fastest rate in four decades, contractors are still struggling to find qualified labor.
