The Bureau of Labor Statistics released the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) numbers on Thursday and included the annual inflation rates for a number of items. Per the BLS, annual inflation stands at 8.2% in September, ticking down from 8.3% in August and 9.1% in June. Increases in the shelter, food, and medical care indexes were the largest of many contributors to the monthly seasonally adjusted all items increase. These increases were partly offset by a 4.9-percent decline in the gasoline index.
