This 8-week course covers basic skills necessary to understand construction documents and what to expect when reviewing drawings. This includes architectural, site/civil, and all mechanical trades scopes, the importance of project specifications, and other related items that are part of a complete set of contract documents. Participation is encouraged, and having interactive discussions will be an important part of the course.
The course will meet for eight (8) Tuesdays from March 25 - May 20 (no class April 22). You must attend at least 6 (six) of the classes in order to obtain a Certificate of Completion.
The class will be conducted online via Zoom. Class link will be sent following registration.
The class will use Print Reading for Construction (8th edition) by Walter C. Bown and Daniel P. Dorfmueller. The book is NOT INCLUDED in the registration fee and will need to be purchased by the student. Click here to order the book.
Instructor: James Paolini has over three decades of experience with various types of site and building design, project management, facility condition assessments, peer reviews for both public and private projects, as well as construction administration. His responsibilities consist of all phases of Architectural design from project viability/pre-design through closeout and commissioning.
