Company History: The idea for Capital Region GPR was formulated in 2018 while the owner was working on her Capstone project for a master's degree at Harvard University, entitled "Abandoned and Forgotten Places." The company was based on giving back to the community by making GPR services affordable to all, including nonprofits, giving respect to those buried in unmarked graves in cemeteries, finding archaeological sites, and to help sellers and buyers determine the existence of UST's buried on both residential and commercial properties. Thanks to a grant from the City of Albany, services have expanded to commercial and residential private utility locating by utilizing both GPR and EM to help verify and solidify the existence of utilities. Private utility locating is now the most popular service purchased. Our GPR company is the only one that has NYS WBE Certification and DBE Certification, and is an active member of U Dig NY 811 as a Sustaining and Damage Prevention Council Member.

Company Description: Capital Region GPR is now the only NYS Certified WBE and DBE that exclusively focuses on ground penetrating radar (GPR) and is the only true locally-based GPR business in the Albany/Troy/Schenectady/Saratoga/Glens Falls area. Valek GPR, LLC has expanded with a satellite office at 1270 Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan, and is actively pursuing NYC WBE status. We use the US Radar Quantum triple frequency commercial-grade Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) system, the only one owned by a Capital Region company, a Radiodetection Electromagnetic (EM) unit, a Pipehorn pipe and cable locator and a Schonstead commercial-grade metal detector to find commercial and residential private utilities. Services also include locating septic system leach fields, to prove or disprove UST's, cemetery work, and archaeology services. Private utilities found include electric, propane gas, propane, water, sewer, drainage, wastewater, irrigation, wells, and all communications lines. UST's found include oil tanks on both residential and commercial properties, and fuel tanks at commercial sites. The company is fully insured with $1 million Professional Liability (E&O), $2/$4-million General Liability, $3-million Umbrella, $1-million Commercial Auto, NYS WC, and Disability insurances. Because Capital Region GPR is local, the company provides a new alternative for the area, with lower costs and no extra fees that out-of-the-area companies charge. We can immediately respond to emergency excavator/contractor calls, provide a faster turnaround time for job completion, and the best commercial-grade GPR machine that is available.
