Governor Andrew Cuomo has spent the past two weeks laying out his 2021 vision for New York State through his annual State of the State address and release of his budget proposal for the year. The Governor's agenda theme is REIMAGINE | REBUILD | RENEW and he presented the following as his six priorities for the year: 1. Conquering COVID and Reimagining Public Health 2. Reopening and Revitalizing New York Businesses 3. Building the Green Economy 4. Building a New New York 5. Realizing a More Just and Equal New York 6. This year's budget proposal remains in flux, as the State awaits news from the federal government on what monies may be coming our way, which could ease the financial stress of the state. Some items of interest in the proposal include: • Continued Financial support of the Regional Economic Development Councils • Expand Opportunities for New York's MWBE Program • A $306 billion infrastructure plan • Downtown Revitalization While the governor has released his budget plans, we are still awaiting the introduction of the budget bills so we can review the actual details.
