BOCES National Signing Day a Success

Eastern Contractors Association was proud to be a part of the Capital District BOCES Career & Technical Education's recent Signing Day, recognizing students who are entering a skilled trades career following their graduation.

A total of 30 students participated in the Signing Day event, with 17 of them entering the construction industry workforce.

Five ECA member firms – BBL Construction Services, LLC, Jersen Construction Group, MLB Construction Services, LLC, James H. Maloy, Inc., and Murnane Building Contractors, Inc. – were also on hand, as several of the students will be joining their companies. The students are looking to become members of Bricklayers Local No. 2, the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, Iron Workers Local No. 12, Laborers Local No. 157, and Operating Engineers Local No. 158.

The BOCES event was part of a nationwide celebration showcasing the impact career and technical education programs have on addressing the U.S. skills gap as the students commit to skilled trades careers, apprenticeships or advanced training. By empowering the next generation of skilled workers, we can help close the skills gap as we highlight the value of paths for young workers that offer great careers, stability, and long-term growth opportunities.
