The NYS Board of Elections reminds all employers that if an employee, who is a registered voter, does not have sufficient time outside of working hours to vote, they may take up to two hours of paid time to do so. Sufficient time is defined as four consecutive hours either between the opening of the polls and the beginning of a work shift or between the end of a shift and the close of the polls. Employees must notify their employer at least two days before the election if they intend on taking time to vote. NOTE: Employers must post information regarding this.
