This week, March 4-10, is NAWIC's Women in Construction Week. The focus of WIC Week is to highlight women as a visible component of the construction industry. This year's WIC Week theme is "Making a Measurable Difference." NAWIC has been helping women for more than 60 years take advantage of the opportunities in construction. Establishing a network base, mentoring, providing educational and professional opportunities for women in construction is the common goal within the organization. Let us know how you're celebrating Women in Construction Week! The Capital District NAWIC chapter will host its celebration event later in the month on Tuesday, March 27 with its MWBE Showcase. Held at the Century House in Latham, the event provides New York State Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MWBE) an opportunity to showcase their businesses to local contractors and state agencies. Last year there were over 175 attendees and 40 booths. The annual showcase creates an avenue for MWBE firms to market themselves to representatives from state agencies, architects, subcontractors, owners, developers, and engineers, and also give them a chance to network with other NYS MWBE companies.
